Latinas are the lowest paid demographic in the United States
It’s time we work towards bridging the wage gap.
We are Pam Covarrubias from Cafe con Pam Podcast and Jessica Yañez from The Wine and Chisme Podcast, aside from being friends, we both believe in the power of Latine voices in the United States. We are specifically passionate about elevating the voices of Latinas.
Latina Equal Payday is on October 21, 2021. This means that a Latina would have to work 9 additional months to be paid the same as an average white man. This is not fair to our community and we want to do something about it.
While Latinas are finishing degrees and starting businesses, the pay gap is not being reduced fast enough. Only about 1 in 10 Latina-owned businesses have enough cash on hand to survive beyond 6 months compared to 2 in 10 Latino-owned businesses according to the 2020 Latino Entrepreneurship Report. This is why Jessica and I have partnered up to support Latina-owned businesses and create an experience on October 21 to have a candid conversation about the pay gap in our community.
