We Asked Entrepreneurs How They Plan Their Year. This Is What They Said

My friends Michelle, Meghan and I hosted a room the other day and we asked entrepreneurs what they do to plan out their year. We are at the end of 2020 and oh my, it’s been quite the ride.

If you don’t know about Clubhouse, it’s this new social media platform that allows you have chat rooms but you use your voice. Remember the chat rooms in the 90’s? Similar concept except that you actually talk here. No typing and hitting backspace, what comes out of your mouth is what people hear. The good thing is that the rooms and content aren’t saved, once the room is closed everything is gone. It’s almost like a real party where people join and if you miss it you missed it.

So, my biz friends decided to host this room and I posed a question: What is the question you ask yourself when you sit down to plan your next year?

The answers we received were fascinating, insightful, and inspiring.

I started taking notes, but because the conversation moves fast I didn’t get to write who said what. Nonetheless, the information was powerful. Here’s a summary:

  • What am I willing to give up?
  • Why do I want to do this?
  • What do you want in your eulogy?
  • Create a 25 year plan and work backwards.
    • What do you want to do?
    • What obstacles do you foresee?
    • What strengths do you need to overcome those obstacles?
  • What do I need to do to move forward?
  • How can I be accountable to the times we’re in?

Also, here are some noteworthy quotes:

I am because of those that came before me
Follow your gut
Keep the ship running
Build an emotional squad
It’s okay to fail, it’s not okay to give up

I’m definitely going to add these questions to my end of year review. I hope you do the same.
